FAIRFIELD, NJ–Back in 1999, at the ages of 14 and 12, founders Steven and Jason, started their first pet care business, K-9 Guardians Professional Pet Sitting, out of a love for dogs. At that time, they weren’t planning to pursue pet care as a career, but enjoyed caring for pets and earning a few extra bucks. In the fall of 2002, Steven flew to Nashville, Tennessee to attend an international conference and convention for professional pet sitters. It was at this convention, witnessing the success of other pet care professionals, that their dream to open a luxury hotel for dogs was born.
In 2005, they purchased a commercial building in Fanwood, NJ and re-designed it as one of the finest pet care facilities in the nation. K9 Resorts was an immediate success and became the only facility in New Jersey rated # 1 by multiple major publications! In 2010, they decided they wanted to provide other pet lovers with the opportunity to own their own business by sharing their knowledge and expertise and launching franchising opportunities. They sold their first franchise in early 2011 to one of their long-time customers.
