FAIRFIELD, NJ–Louisa, the founder and owner of Louisa Amabile Testa LLC, has been a florist for over forty years. She opened her own shop on Grove Street in Montclair when she was twenty-two years old and ran it for almost a decade. She then sold the business and worked for Hanover Floral in East Hanover as lead designer and wedding coordinator.
After getting married, having triplets and then being blessed with another baby less than two years later, Louisa decided to start a home-based business in the basement of her Montclair home, which is where Louisa Amabile Testa LLC, originated. The business was focused primarily on weddings and large events, but also included other types of celebrations and events from bridal and baby showers to dinner parties. As the business quickly grew, Louisa knew she needed to hire someone.
She crossed paths with Michelle Vivona, a seasoned designer and business entrepreneur, and brought her on board. Louisa and Michelle figured out how to build a successful business, while raising young children without needing daycare. They offered flexible hours and hired part-time employees to support the business. Louisa’s art background allowed them to dabble in creative Bar and Bat Mitzvahs and showers, which expanded their offerings well beyond floral designs.
During those years together, they built a solid following for repeat customers as well as securing their spot in many restaurants, country clubs, and venues as a preferred vendor.
The COVID pandemic hit the floral industry hard, and Louisa ended up selling her Montclair home. She moved the business to a space in Verona hoping for continued success after COVID, which, thankfully, was the case. Once the business regained momentum, they outgrew the space and most recently moved to Building 9 in our complex in Fairfield.
In the new space, they are expanding not only their event floral designing capability but also creating an incredible studio to hold floral and art-inspired classes. The following classes and events are forthcoming. Please check their website for updates:
● Upcoming classes: a spring centerpiece class, an ivy topiary class for Easter, and teacup succulents for Mother’s Day
● Open House at the new space: April 26th at 4:00pm. All are welcome to stop by for a drink, a bite to eat, and to check out the new space!
